Hess Rolls 298 to Win PBA50 Bud Moore Players Championship

Tom Hess saved his best for last Wednesday night, firing a 298 in the championship match to beat John Janawicz 298-235 and capture the Bud Moore PBA50 Players Championship.

The No. 5 seed had to win four straight to get his hands on the trophy, and he did it by knocking off some serious competition along the way. Janawicz came in as the top seed and had been crushing everyone since Saturday, but Hess had other plans.

Hess started his run by taking down Dino Castillo 226-202, then rolled past Pete Weber 246-193. The semifinal against Michael Haugen Jr. was tight at 214-208, setting up the showdown with Janawicz.

The victory puts Hess in a good position heading into the rest of the season. Next up for the PBA50 crowd is the USBC Super Senior Classic at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas starting May 28. That one’s for the 60-and-over gang, and you can catch it all on BowlTV.
